| Erika Colon was born in Venezuela but has lived most of her life in Japan.
She is currently completing her Masters of Music at Royal Academy of Music
under the tutelage of Diane Forlano, Jennifer Dakin and Jonathan Papp.
Following her graduate studies in pedagogy and a Master's Degree in Humanities
from the Sacred Heart University in Tokyo, Erika worked for several years
in schools and universities in Japan. Deeply moved by a trip to Nagasaki, she recorded an exclusive CD on San Paolo label of the "Ave Maria for the Bombed Virgin of Nagasaki" composed by her father, Eric Colon. Erika was subsequently invited to perform this piece in the Temple of the Great Buddha in Nara (Todaiji) and the Nagasaki Urakami cathedral along with other numerous venues in Japan. She has performed on the operatic stage and concert platform in the UK, Italy, Belgium and France. Recent engagements as a soloist include: her critically acclaimed performance of the world premiere of 26 pieces for voice and piano on short poems by Paul Claudel, inspired by the famous Japanese DODOITSU poems, Handel's Messiah; Faure's Requiem; and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. She has also recorded a melody for the opening ceremony of the Nagano Olympic Games in 2005. Erika is keen to explore Baroque music, intercultural music and especially her father's compositions. 聖心女子大学教育学科卒業。同大学院人間科学課程修了。1979年ベネズエラ生まれ。ベルギー人作曲家の父と声楽家の母のもと幼少より音楽に親しむ。10歳で日本に帰国。阪神淡路大震災をきっかけに、母の主宰する女声アンサンブル「カメラータ神戸」のソリストとして演奏活動を始める。2000年、2002年ブリュージュにおいて開催されたインターナショナル・マスタークラスでは選抜生によるYoung Talents Concertに出演。その後、ベルギー王立音楽院教授クロディーヌ・アルノーを日本に招聘して行われたマスタークラスでは音楽性・語学力を認められ通訳兼アシスタントを務める。2000年には、ローマから長崎への旅で得た感動を歌に託し、東京オペラシティ・近江楽堂にて「Voice of the Soul」と題したリサイタルを行う。以後、旅先の長崎で出会い感銘を受けた「被爆のマリア像」に捧げる賛歌、アヴェ・マリアが父エリック・コロンによって作曲され、2001年浦上天主堂において初演。このアヴェ・マリアは、平和へのメッセージとして社会的な反響を呼び、CD出版の後2002年には大仏開眼1250年を記して奈良東大寺大仏殿にて奉賛演奏をする運びとなった。長崎各地、五島列島の教会で国重要指定文化財を記念したコンサート他、東京・神戸を中心に日本各地で数々のコンサートを行う。この他には、2004年 東京国立競技場で行われたアテネ・オリンピック男子サッカー壮行試合でベネズエラ国歌斉唱。2005年 長野で開催されたスペシャル・オリンピックスの開会式に参加。同年8月9日、被爆６０年を迎えた長崎浦上天主堂で「被爆のマリア像に捧げる賛歌〜アヴェ・マリア〜」を歌唱。11月、ポール・クローデル没５０年記念コンサートでソプラノとピアノのための「どどいつ」 を初演。現在英国王立音楽院、修士コースに在籍。 |
